Fund Livelihood Trainings

In many instances, Filipinos do not have incomes because they do not have any skills and cannot be hired for a job.  If they want to have skills, they need money to study short technical courses or vocational courses.  Money which they do not have, because they cannot get a job.  So it now becomes a chicken-and-egg story.

Unfortunately, this story doesn’t have a good ending.  These Filipinos end up staying at home and earning the local label of “tambay” (English, “stand by” because they are forever just standing by waiting for nothing).  And if any fortunate family member lands a job, that person’s small income will end up being stretched to support the entire family including siblings, parents, grandparents and even other relatives.  At the end of the day, no one in that entire family progresses.

We would like to fund the tuition of these Filipinos for short technical or vocational courses and will be working with local barangays in the selection process of beneficiaries.  Funding will be given to adults with financial responsibilities, to ensure a higher rate of finishing the program and a bigger motivation to finding and staying with a job.

Course options will be dressmaking, cooking and baking, automotive, welding, machining, plumbing, and computer basics.
